About me
Claudia Kenny brings the skills of a conflict specialist, the grounded experience of a long time farmer, and a deep commitment to a just, community rooted food system to her work with the Farms for a New Generation team at American Farmland Trust. As part of a first generation farm family now in its 32nd season operating a 97 acre livestock and vegetable farm in Chatham, NY, Claudia understands firsthand the pressures and complexities farmers face. Prior to joining AFT, she served for eight years as the Statewide Director of the New York State Agricultural Mediation Program, supporting farmers through some of their most challenging conflicts. Claudia holds a Master's degree in Conflict Analysis and Engagement with a concentration in environmental conflict. She is a trained mediator and conflict coach with extensive experience helping people navigate stress, uncertainty, and difficult conversations. She studies and teaches relational practices that cultivate compassion and presence, which inform both her values and her approach to community work.
