About me
Dr. Virginia Pleasant grew up in Northwest Indiana and returned to her roots there 9 years ago to help build the regional food system she believes future generations deserve. From urban homesteading with her husband and 3 young children, to her role as Interim Director of Food Systems Initiatives at Purdue Northwest, Virginia is committed to sowing seeds of change for the council, the community, and across the state. She is also involved in many local, state, and regional coalitions for food systems work, including leadership roles in the Indiana Value Chain Network, Indiana Grown for Schools, and collaborations throughout the Lake Michigan region. She works to weave networks along the food value chain from farmers to eaters, and all points in between to build capacity, collaboration, and community resilience.
